Fairfield Lets Development Ideas Run Wild

FAIRFIELD - The plans for far east Fairfield keep getting more ambitious.
Officials have been talking about the possibility of putting the array of baseball, softball and soccer fields near Peabody Road. The area is currently an empty, flat expanse, but it is slated to be the next development hot spot.
'That's one of our very top priorities with the things were doing with the youth, and especially given how big our needs are in soccer and baseball,' Councilman Matt Garcia said.
Fairfield is hoping to build a train station on Peabody Road along the Amtrak lines and is anticipating a slew of development to follow.
The latest idea is to find space in the area for a sports complex, which could be partly funded by development fees from those homes.
