County wins awards for innovative programs 9/19/2007
Four County programs were recently recognized by the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) for their innovative approaches to solving challenges.
BabyFirst Solano, managed by Health and Social Services, received a Challenge Award for its innovative way of improving prenatal care in three high-risk populations through a public and private partnership.
BabyFirst Solano will accept the award at the 113th annual California State Association of Counties meeting in Oakland on Nov. 13. They will present their program at a workshop entitled “Best Practices: California Counties’ Most Innovative Programs.”
First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission received a Merit Award for its strategy of leveraged funding that nearly doubled the funds received by grantees in fiscal year 2005/2006.
The Public Defender’s Office received a Merit Award for developing a hard-hitting presentation on the devastating impacts of the methamphetamine use that was presented to middle school students throughout the county.
Health and Social Services received a Merit Award for improving access to mental health care by integrating mental health clinicians into the primary care clinics.
