Local transportation projects get funding

Several Solano and Napa area transportation projects are among dozens getting funding from Proposition 1B this fiscal year, the governor's office announced Monday.
Allocations of Prop 1B funds surged to near $4 billion this week,
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's office announced. Prop 1B is the 2006 voter-approved bond to improve California's transportation infrastructure.
Near Suisun City, $44.6 million will go to rehabilitate 18 miles of roadway from Scandia Road to Currie Road, the announcement noted. In Cordelia, $946,000 will go toward replacing truck inspection facilities along Interstate 80.
Several smaller projects along Highway 37, including planting a viewing area at Guadalcanal village, relinquishing Old Route 37 in Vallejo and resurfacing the asphalt from Tolay Creek Bridge to the Walnut Avenue overcrossing, will also be funded.
