Fairfield, Calif., March 14, 2008 — The Fairfield Community Development Department announced today that two major retailers are set to open locations in Fairfield—
Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH), and Staples, Inc.

“At a time when the news is filled with stories of businesses closing down, Fairfield remains a bright spot for doing business in the Bay Area,” said Curt Johnston, assistant community development director for Fairfield. “We are pleased to welcome OSH and Staples to our city.”

Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH), a leading chain of hardware and garden retail stores in California will open a 51,969-square foot location at 1500 Oliver Road at Travis Boulevard in July 2008. It’s expected the company will hire 50 to 70 employees. This will be the second location for the company in Solano County. OSH opened a store in Vacaville in October, 2006.

“The home improvement retail sector is limited in Fairfield and Orchard Supply Hardware is a much welcomed addition to the Fairfield Corners shopping center, “said Johnston. “The center is seeing new life with the addition of Orchard Supply and the new Favela’s Mexican Restaurant.”

The office products company, Staples Inc.., with a reported 2,000 stores world-wide, is set to open a 20,390-square foot location at 1200 Oliver Road, in early June according to the city of Fairfield’s community development department.

With one store currently in Vacaville, the Staples store in Fairfield will be the company’s second Solano County location.
