NorthBay Healthcare Set to Occupy New “Healthy” Administrative Center
(Fairfield, CA) Hearn Construction is finishing work on the new NorthBay Healthcare Training Center, Conference Center, and Administrative Offices on Business Center Drive in Fairfield. This two story, 69,000 square foot building will provide NorthBay with a third healthcare campus in Solano County and will give the Fairfield & Vacaville campuses some needed elbow room.

Hearn Construction staffed the project with veteran builders Jim Clarke as Project Manager, and Mark Redmond as the Project Superintendent. The Project Administrator for the job was Christine Young. Part of NorthBay Healthcare’s mandate to the architect, Gensler, and the builder was to use special materials and design to produce a “healthy building” for workers. The concrete tilt-up construction of the building and the office’s HVAC system were specially designed for efficiency. The floor finishes are stained concrete or low-VOC carpet tile. Walking paths and gardens surrounding the facility will provide workers with a place to get fresh air and exercise on lunches or breaks. An all glass window wall at the building entrance provides natural light and adds architectural interest. Joelyn Gropp, Facilities Development Director for NorthBay Healthcare, says, “NorthBay Healthcare is very proud of this beautiful new Administration Center and the healthy environment it embodies. Hearn Construction’s quality craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident throughout the facility.”

NorthBay Healthcare is particularly excited about the opening of the Training Center. It houses a Simulation Lab, a state-of-the-art facility to train medical teams (nurses, techs, docs) in a simulated environment using high tech mannequins instead of live patients. The training sessions are digitally recorded and played back to educate the team. The company has plans to digitally connect the Sim Lab to training facilities in the other two hospitals. Simulating traumatic events for training is a safer practice and leads to healthier staff, patients and clinical outcomes.

The new campus also houses a one story, 4,246 square foot attached Conference Center. This is the largest conference facility in Solano County, and will be available for public use as well as for NorthBay Healthcare’s meeting needs. The conference center is capable of being sectioned into 1, 2, or 3 separate areas. The lighting controls are programmed to know which sections are open and will control all the lights in that area.
