New baseball field to open today

FAIRFIELD - After a short five months of construction, the American Legion baseball field at Laurel Creek Park has completed its transformation.
Little more than a year after the Fairfield Expos Baseball Association went to the city council for approval of the project, a brand new baseball stadium will be introduced to the public today.
FEBA president Brad Hanson and a host of supporters will officially open the new stadium with a short ceremony and a game between two of the organization's teams at 6 p.m.
The stadium doesn't have a name yet, but Hanson said that will be announced at a dedication ceremony in June.
Already a decent place to play ball, the field has become a state-of-the-art baseball field featuring a host of improvements ranging from the concessions area to the view to the irrigation and drainage of the field.
'With the exception of the professional stadiums, this is probably the best field in Northern California,' Hanson said.
