Taking frozen yogurt by avalanche

FAIRFIELD - Things are starting to heat up for Avalanche Frozen Yogurt.

Six weeks after it opened, the shop on Texas and State streets is bracing for the hot season and the associated influx of customers seeking sweet relief from the weather.

'Because this is our first year everything is new to us, but we are hoping that spring and summer will be our busiest,' said Pei Wang, owner of the store and nearby Monsoon Burgers. 'We did definitely want to give us some lead time, figure out who our customers are, when is the busiest time and when to have extra staff.'

Wang has run Monsoon Burgers for more than seven years. The neighboring suite in his shopping center opened up and Wang saw the opportunity to be among the first locally to capitalize on a recent resurgence of frozen yogurt.
