FAIRFIELD - Construction is nearly complete on the 11-story automated warehouse that towers over much of southern Fairfield.

Kitchenware giant Meyer Corp. has spent the better part of a year building its new storage and distribution facility and about five years working on the plans. Ultimately, it will provide about 165,000 square feet of new warehouse space along Beck Avenue and Meyer Way.

In a statement, Suzanne Murphy, vice president of marketing, said construction on the building should be finished by the end of February.

'We anticipate about two months to load the building with product, becoming operational in May,' she said.

Down the line, there could be more expansion in the works.
