More than 40 State Compensation Insurance Fund employees in Vacaville were recently recognized by Mayor Len Augustine and Gary Tatum, Vacaville Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, as part of 2009 Solano Commute Challenge.

State Fund in Vacaville earned the title of "Commute Champion Workplace" in the Solano Commute Challenge, sponsored by the Solano Transportation Authority. The fund was the leading employer in Vacaville by number of employees using alternative ways to commute from August to October.

Countywide, more than 40 employers and nearly 600 employees participated in the challenge. More than 360 employees earned the title "Commute Champion," a 20 percent increase over last year, Jayne Bauer, a spokesperson for STA, said in a press release.

The Commute Challenge was an outreach campaign for major Solano County employers to encourage employees to use transit, carpools, vanpools, bikes and footpower to get work for at least 30 workdays from August through October.
