Local designer wins Golden Bear Trophy for ‘Best of Show’ at the fair

The Solano County exhibit at the California State Fair again won the coveted Golden Bear “Best of Show” award for 2009. The concept for this year’s exhibit “The Enchanted Orchard” was originated by Curtis Designs, a Fairfield-Suisun Chamber member.

This year’s award was given for an unprecedented fifth consecutive year to Solano County. In fact, for six out of the past seven years Solano has brought the prize home.

A giant orange, reminiscent of the old Orange Juice stands, provide a gateway for visitors to walk through oversized fruit crates filled with displays that showcase the agriculture in Solano County. Inside the display, visitors discover Solano’s people, industry and history, where it’s fun to live, work and
play!

Overhead, an animated marionette farmer picks pears while the smiling sun mascot, “Sunny” greets fair visitors.
