Water company to open distribution facility

FAIRFIELD - Water giant Crystal Geyser has signed a lease to operate a distribution facility in the Cordelia area.
The company, which operates a bottling plant in Calistoga in Napa County, has leased about 70,000 square feet of industrial space across from Rodriguez High School.
The arrangement is a three-year deal with the possibility of an extension.
'They can distribute Napa products better from (Interstate 80) and (Interstate) 680 so they are just putting themselves in a better logistics position,' said Brooks Pedder of Colliers International, which handled the deal for the property owner. 'We are seeing a lot of companies . . . come to the Cordelia junction because it makes more sense.'
The move comes as Crystal Geyser Water Co. considers closing its Calistoga bottling plant and relocating elsewhere. Company officials have said the company has outgrown its current facility in Calistoga. They have been reported to be exploring a move to Glenn County.
Fairfield has previously had success attracting companies on the strength of the quality of water available from Lake Berryessa. That is generally far cleaner and requires far less treatment than other sources.
Water quality was instrumental in the location of the Anheuser Busch plant and also key in bringing the Frank-Lin Distillers factory currently under construction on Huntington Drive.
