FAIRFIELD - Sunshine, cool breeze and beer. Suisun City has all the ingredients for a perfect summer day at its annual August Fest event Saturday.
Held near the intersection of Main and Solano streets, event organizers said they expected to draw about 5,000 people over the course of the day. August Fest offered microbrew tasting during the day and jet ski races in the evening.
'We are trying to bring people to Suisun City to see the beautiful waterfront we have,' said organizer Debbie Jarrett.
On Saturday, volunteers for the Suisun City Police and Fire Department Boosters were serving out samples of beer from many of the region's leading microbreweries.
Sierra Nevada sent its seasonal Summerfest beer, Anheuser-Busch sent its Shock Top brand and hometown brewer Blue Frog attended with several offerings.
August Fest is one of the city's attempts, along with the Suisun Waterfront Festival, to bring people to the waterfront area, said Jarrett, a local event planner who has headed the event the past three years.
