FAIRFIELD - As their feet pounded grapes in a barrel at Wooden Valley Winery on Sunday, Vince Scott, 16, and Lucas Scott, 14, struggled to keep their balance.

'I didn't think it would be that slippery,' Vince Scott said with a grin.

The brothers, visiting from North Carolina, joined other children stomping grapes and sipping lemonade as their parents took advantage of free wine tasting during the Suisun Valley Grape Growers Association Harvest Celebration.

Participants tasted Suisun Valley wines at Wooden Valley Winery, Blue Victorian Winery, Ledgewood Creek Winery, the Suisun Valley Wine Co-op, Tenbrink Family Winery, Vezer Family Vineyards and Winterhawk Winery.

Each winery offered a slightly different experience, from $1 tacos at Tenbrick to free vineyard tours at Ledgewood.

Fairfield resident Tim Dunbarton, 49, said he likes supporting local vineyards and enjoyed the tastes of Suisun Valley wines at the Suisun Valley Wine Co-op.

'The wines are very unique and reflect the history of the vineyards,' Dunbarton said. 'Gordon Valley and Suisun Valley wines taste different than Lodi and Napa because of the climate.'
