Valero earns defense contract

BENICIA -- The Valero Marketing and Supply Co. won a $230.5 million contract Wednesday to produce aviation fuel for the U.S. Department of Defense.

The contract is for indefinite delivery and indefinite quantity of aviation fuel, according to a Defense Department press release.

"Valero typically does not talk about its contracts," Valero spokesman Billy Day said, referring questions to the Defense Department.

Valero will supply the department's Defense Energy Support Center with fuel until Oct. 30, 2010.
