VACAVILLE - The Nut Tree train is expected to make its formal return to the Nut Tree shopping center Aug. 22 with a new 'green' bio-diesel engine, the Nut Tree's developer, Westrust, announced Friday.
The train will chug around the re-designed Nut Tree Plaza starting with a grand opening celebration that will feature costumed characters and live music from the Hipwaders.
As a thank-you for Vacaville residents, anyone with proof of residency with a drivers' license or utility bill will be able to ride the train and carousel for free Aug. 20-21.
The redesigned plaza will have both the train and carousel as well as other preserved parts of the original Nut Tree.
